Drawing energies together to create a new society, through many different approaches, is what makes me attracted to The Hub.

I have several projects that contribute to this overall goal of a social responsible and sustainable society. They all focus on one area of human development which for me seems to be the area of greatest impact: the development of a human consciousness, and the corresponding energy system, capable of actually walking this fine talk.
The Taoist internal martial arts (Tai Chi, Hsing I and Ba gua) is my main skill, and together with acupuncture these are also the avenues in which I seek to make my contribution to a better world. One of the main interest that draw the hubits together is clearly the desire to make a better world, and while this might seem obvious, it is actually still an underground movement, strange as this may sound. Of course many have an interest in improving circumstances, but really doing something about it, and not least honestly facing the reality of the present mess, is a relatively rare quality in people today.
Many elements in society are pulling towards disintegration and breakdown. For me it is very clear that we need to gather all the human resources we have, to be able to withstand this, and simultaneously renew this society. But, in my view, most people underestimate what it will take for each individual to be able to cope with the destructive influences we are progressively meeting. I am convinced that we can not “walk our talk” if we do not find, develop and appreciate what you could call the Spiritual Warrior quality within us.

While no words can convey what a true spiritual warrior is, it is nevertheless crucial that we get the genuine version, not some new age version, of this developed. This I my passion and line of work.

As a host at The Hub, I have been seeing the immense potential that this place has, and have great hope and expectation of seeing this community of people being one of the really positive influences in society today.

I run in my own one person company with focus on CSR and sustainability. The biggest portion of my time is used on coordinating Microsoft’s global environment and sustainability strategy.

Three areas are in particular focus at the moment. Firstly Microsoft has stepped up its efforts to reduce its own environmental footprint. Currently the IT sector is responsible for about two percent of all CO2 emissions globally, about the same as the airline industry.

Secondly Microsofts customers, partners and the public sector in particular are showing increased interest in so called “Smart Cities”. Here we are working with the possibility to make cities more environmentally sustainable by applying smart and efficient IT. One example is a city such as Copenhagen which is aiming at becoming CO2 neutral by 2020 through initiatives such as smart street lightning and traffic controlled by smart It.

The third and final area is what we in Microsoft call “The new world of work” which is about empowering employes to be able to work anywhere, communicate and collaborate at any time using IT, and hereby improving their life quality, helping them be more productive and also helping the environment. In Denmark, Microsoft is organizing a national work from home day together with the Danish government.

For me, the Hub is a fantastic opportunity to live the example of a flexible new world of work, even with a limited membership, to drop by after a meeting in town and meet inspiring people. I appreciate working there and enjoy the sociable and innovative atmosphere.

AppMonk – technology dedicated to serve
In January I started my new venture called Appmonk. As the name indicate it is an application business were I have so far employed myself lol. There are already some very interesting project underway.

At the moment I am for example developing a virtual game for Eksperimentarium which will be incorporated in their “sustainable energy exhibition”.

Another project is the “UgensMad” app where families with children can get their diet made by a dietist, and it can also help them with planning the weekly grocery shopping and menu. The need for this seems very much to be present, because the stress level is so high in these families that they end up buying junk food and such, simply because they cannot overcome the tasks of having regular and healthy eating habits.

Just now and the next three months I will be a “Prostitute” (that’s what we call it) at BaneDanmark, doing their apps, but it will afterwards leave me room and economic capacity to work on my more inspiring projects, such as an app platform for people meditating; possibly I will take a work vacation at a spiritual retreat in northern Thailand, so as to be in the same sort of environment that I am encouraging the development of here in Denmark.

On a note, the energy level seems to be raising here in the Hub and hopefully this will continue, and hereby attract more people who are up to something. Also I hope we will continue to have an open approach to what constitutes the “working for a better world”.

Let’s get going Hubits, the world needs us!

Appmonk

Ingerfair works with consulting and workshoping for organizations and public institutions, which wish to improve their capacity to involve and work with volunteers. Besides the business partners Nana and Frederik there are two freelance training-consultants attached. In Ingefair we offer concrete tools for developing organizations’ methods for integrating volunteers, and also we improve the leaders and coordinators abilities to create better results in cooperation with the volunteers. Basically it is all about securing that the volunteer work is of benefit for all parts involved- both volunteers as well as the organizations. Our projects at the moment focus on several different consultant tasks for volunteer organizations, which have concrete challenges in connection with developing their volunteer base – we help them through courses, workshops and by consulting them.

At the moment we are also in the process of writing a book, in which we seek to create and explain the method and skills of how to work with volunteers in organizations. We want to go beyond the stereotyped ways of seeing volunteering as only a way out of the current crisis, but rather as something much more comprehensive; a way of organizing sports, cultural events and much more. It is likewise very important that the organizations, which have an interest in having volunteers, are becoming aware of which aspects can make it a success for all parts involved.
It is not only the management of volunteers which we focus on, in this new book. There are many strategic considerations to take for the organizations involved, since volunteers are not cost free to have, and since there are several other factors which have to be taken into account. The question is really what resource the volunteers represent. They actually are a quite different resource than the employed, but also different than simply a free work source. We try to get around all these topics in our new book.
